Germany's government updated its public list of military aid to Ukraine at the end of March 2023, confirming that 18 Leopard 2A6 tanks and 40 Marder infantry fighting vehicles had been handed over, each with ammunition, from Bundeswehr stocks and industry.
The list also included two Bergepanzer 3 Büffel armored recovery vehicles and two Wisent 1 mine-clearing vehicles, both built on the Leopard 2 chassis. Recovery vehicles are essential: a disabled 60-tonne tank cannot be towed by an ordinary truck. The update also listed more trucks and large quantities of medical supplies.
